CHICAGO ─ State Senator Ram Villivalam announced Thursday in state funding has been released to the Chicago Park District for improvements to Indian Boundary Park.
“Indian Boundary Park has been a staple in our community for over one hundred years – allowing many families, youth and residents to create lasting memories alongside nature,” said Villivalam (D-Chicago). “I am excited to see the positive impact that improvements to the park will have on our neighbors as they continue to enjoy all the park has to offer for years to come.”
For two years, Villivalam, alongside State Representative Kevin Olickal and Alderperson Debra Silverstein, have met with residents and other officials to learn more about this project and how improvements will positively impact our community.
In 2022, Villivalam secured $750,000 in funding for the park through the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity. This funding was recently released to the Chicago Park District, who have been working on this project to improve the park.
Improvement to the park include redevelopment and modernization of playground equipment as well as accessibility enhancements. The park has continued to be a pillar of the community, providing shared spaces and recreational activities for neighbors to enjoy.
“Investing in public spaces where families can come together, unplug and build community strengthens our neighborhoods,” Olickal said (D-Chicago). “These improvements will help ensure Indian Boundary Park remains a place where families can gather and enjoy for years to come."
